Apple struck a sweeping partnership with Google to power the next generation of Siri using Gemini models. The multi-year collaboration, valued at $1 billion annually, represents one of the most significant partnerships between the two tech giants.

The Gemini-powered Siri will introduce on-screen awareness, cross-app integration, and conversation memory. All cloud processing runs through Apple's Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.

"After careful evaluation, we determined that Google's technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models," an Apple executive stated.

The partnership is non-exclusive--Apple plans to offer users a choice of AI providers through an "Extensions" system in iOS 27. Apple will unveil the full scope at WWDC 2026, June 8-12.

“This partnership brings the best on-device experience together with the most capable cloud AI.”
