A Miami startup is wagering that the hardest problem in agentic AI is no longer getting an agent to act. It is getting the agent to remember — and to prove what it remembered, where the fact came from, and whether it is still true.
On July 9, 2026, AgentPrizm publicly launched AgentMemory and AgentSkills, a pair of products that pair a REST API with a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to give AI agents persistent memory across sessions. The pitch is deliberately narrow and enterprise-shaped: not just recall, but governed recall, with confidence-weighted facts, validity windows, contradiction handling, container isolation, audit receipts and GDPR-aligned right-to-forget controls with verifiable deletion.
Why memory became the story
The launch lands squarely on 2026's dominant infrastructure theme. As companies push agents from demos into revenue, support, coding and legal workflows, the stateless nature of large language models keeps surfacing as the bottleneck. An agent that forgets a customer's history between sessions, or re-litigates an architectural decision every morning, is not a colleague — it is an expensive intern with amnesia.
"AI agents are moving into real business workflows," said Gene Avakyan, founder and CEO of AgentPrizm, in the launch announcement. "Once an agent is helping with revenue, customer support, code or internal decisions, memory becomes a trust layer. The system has to show what it remembered, why it remembered it and when that memory may no longer be true."
That framing — memory as a trust layer rather than a cache — is what AgentPrizm is selling. In practice, the company says, a support agent can recall a customer's full history with source citations, a coding agent can preserve decisions across sessions, and a compliance agent can prove a record was deleted when a customer asked. The company calls it "traceable recall instead of opaque context stuffing."
The specifics
AgentPrizm exposes memory through a REST API at /api/v1/agent/* plus an MCP server, so it plugs into Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and any MCP-capable agent. There is a free tier — no credit card — with API and MCP access, 10,000 stored memories and 4,500 recalls per month. Paid plans run from a Starter tier at $19/month through Builder at $79 to Scale at $249/month plus usage, each with a 14-day trial and every recall feature included. Enterprise buyers get custom retention on the same hosted infrastructure. The company, built by VUGA Enterprises LLC and describing its engine as patent-pending, also says it plans a source-available version of the memory engine later this summer so teams can self-host and evaluate.
The second product, AgentSkills, is a governed marketplace for reusable procedures: publish a versioned SKILL.md once, let agents discover skills by intent, preserve lineage, and block secrets or personal data before anything is shared.
Where it fits — and who it fights
AgentPrizm enters a crowded, fast-maturing field. Comparisons across the ecosystem now treat Mem0, Zep (built on the Graphiti temporal knowledge graph), Letta — the commercial heir to the MemGPT research that popularized agent memory hierarchies — and Cognee as the reference set, with newer local-first projects crowding in. Mem0's own 2026 benchmark report claims scores of 92.5 on LoCoMo and 94.4 on LongMemEval at under 7,000 tokens per retrieval, and it ships OpenMemory as an MCP-compatible server for Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf.
AgentPrizm is not trying to win those accuracy leaderboards head-on. Its differentiation is governance — the audit receipts, validity windows and provable deletion that matter less in a benchmark and more in a regulated enterprise. Notably, one recurring finding in the space cuts in its favor: independent testing has shown memory systems that look strong in benchmarks can degrade sharply in production once stale data and contradictions accumulate over weeks. A system built around fact-validity windows and contradiction handling is a direct answer to exactly that decay.

AgentPrizm is about giving AI agents an institutional memory that helps teams move faster without losing accountability."
What to watch next
Three things will tell us whether AgentPrizm is a durable layer or a well-timed press release. First, the promised source-available engine: self-hosting is table stakes for the security-conscious enterprises the company is courting, and open evaluation invites the benchmark scrutiny it has so far sidestepped. Second, whether "governed memory" becomes a category or a checkbox — expect Mem0, Zep and Letta to sharpen their own audit and deletion stories in response. Third, MCP itself: as the protocol standardizes how agents reach tools and memory, the winners may be whoever becomes the default memory server developers wire up first. Persistent memory is now widely agreed to be the missing layer for reliable agents. The open question is whether reliability is won on accuracy, on governance, or on distribution.
